A gate
« on: 11 June 2006, 10:46:07 »
I was thinking of putting a gate in the game, but I was wondering how to do it...

I thought of letting a closed gate "promote" to an opened gate, and vice versa, with cost = 0.

Any other ideas?

well, i used the trick with the promote-function for my pikeman. A other idea is that the gate has a two attacks with a strengh 0, one with the closed and one with the opened gate and you can changed them . But i think the other solution is better, because with this you have a "morph-animation" means closing or opening the gate can be animated (look better).

I think you must use some kind of promoting because the collision-map of the building must change, so in fact the unit itself must change. (As I recall, there is only one collision-map by building in Glest 2)
