problems with opengl and ati 3d aceleration
« on: 15 September 2006, 10:31:48 »
I have a problem during de execution of glest because it tells me that i must run opengl 1.3 and i'm running 1.2. the problem is because of drivers of ati radeon 9600, can't undestand why they don't work properly. they are official drivers from ati webpage but can't run the game.

Any suggestion, any manual or faq, have i to download something? thanks

Okay, it's not that people don't want to help. Is that they don't know what to do either :p

When you have a problem like this, it would be nice if you posted which linux distribution you are running :)

I run on Gentoo, so from this page: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-493116-highlight-glest.html

If you are running on XGL or maybe in some other situations where you actually have the updated drivers, it might be a good idea to turn off the check for the OpenGL version.

So, you might want to try in the file ~/.glest/glest.ini to change the line that says CheckGLcaps from 1 to 0.
