Command Boxes

On every unit, there are command boxes, 4 per line, and I think 3 or 4 lines total. Is there a way so that I can make my commands look like:

[ Move ] [ Stop ] [ Attack ]
[ Research 1 ] [ Research 2 ]

Now I know how to put them in order, but is there a way I can make the commands only take up 2 or 3 spaces, then go to the next line, rather than having it break up into 3 on the first line, and 2 on the second line?

I'd say you can but you would need to do it in the source.

You can not as far as I remember, the game sometimes changes the location of some commands to make the interface look better though.
