[Linux] Not rendering whole screen on 3200x1200

I recently found Glest in gentoo's portage system, so I thought I might give it a try. I played it for the last few hours now and very much like it, so thanks very much to everyone behind the project!
However, there is one minor (but stupid) bug in the version I tried (glest-2.0.0-r1, gentoo-ebuild from portage):

If you start Glest with a very wide resolution (3200x1200 is my default setup), the image "stops" before the right and left screen borders; some 300 pixels or so at each side of the screen are just black. This problem does not occur if running Glest in 1600x1200.

From what I've seen I assume Glest renders a region outside of the screen when using a normal 4:3 aspect ratio but won't properly stretch this region if using a wider format. I haven't tried using a 16:9-ish resolution, but I guess that might not be wide enough to show the black borders.

Wow, I didn't even know you could run Glest at that resolution lol, but to my knowledge Glest naturally runs at 4:3 ratio, if you have that problem. How do you ever have a 3:1 ratio?

It does. It even does so pretty sweetly, but there's just that issue with the missing screen parts.

You get an 8:3 resolution by just using two 4:3 screens next to each other. And other than in Windows, you can actually play games spanned over both screens in linux. It's fun :]

Edit: I just fired up Glest again and noticed another small bug when playing it on 8:3 - the buttons (the ones appearing when you select a unit or building) are stretched too much, so instead of square they're wider.

Wow, well thats pretty cool. I'm not sure if they can do anything about those bugs though, since your really stretching out the game more than it was meant to run on. Maybe someone else knows something to help the game perform better, but I hope you'll get it straighten out. Atleast the game is playable though :P

glest probably don't support 3:1 ratio. i think u will have to choose between stretched buttons and blank screen on both sides.
