Dejadme decirlo de esta manera: Glest > WC3

Let me put it this way: Glest > WC3

I've fallen inlove with this game, but like I said, I have some questions. So let us begin, shall we?

  • First of all, I'd like to know if development of the game has stalled. Apparently the files in CVS have been sitting there for quite some time, are Glest devs using other repo for their files instead of CVS (SVN, maybe)?
  • Will you make the source code for some of the tools available as Open Source?  Basically to know if there's a chance we might just get a map editor for Linux/*nix. What about a Blender export plugin/script?
  • Have you thought of a campaign for the game yet? This game would benefit a LOT from having a campaign, especially since there's a lot of background covered in the site which might just as well make a very good single player experience. I'm sure that having such background writting a plot to base a campaign off, shouldn't be too difficult, though it'll require talent.
  • Is there a time frame for Multiplayer support?

I think I'll ponder on the rest of the questions I've got, as many of those depend on the answers to these. Thanks in advance.

Kind of, we all have jobs now so it's been a long time since we don't do anything in the game. However we might release new versions in the future with bug fixes and other things.

They are all open source and using cross-platform libraries, however we don't support them for Linux, the source code is in the CVS but not in the source packages. There is a blender exporter in the contributions section of the website.

Yes we have, but we just don't the time.

Same reply as before.

Thanks for your reply Martin-o (or is Martinho?). Since the game is open source and released under the GPL, what are the requirements you have for people to collaborate "upstream", or join the project? I ask because I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people interested in collaborating with the project. I've thought of "advertising" the projec at www.happypenguin.org for volunteers who might get involved, basically as maintainers, so you can keep leadership of the project in terms of what gets done and included and what not, just to keep the project alive. However before I do this, I wanted to ask your authorization. I'd LOVE to help, but I have neither the skill nor the time to fully commit to the project. I've started writing a draft of what could a campaign be, I may post it later at some point... In any case, I'd hate to see this project get abandonned or stalled... Will you still admit patches and the like?

Thanks in advance... I have a list of possible feature enhacements, but I think it would be best to first have ongoing development of the project. Thanks for your time.
