UVW Mapping Problems
« on: 2 March 2007, 07:01:12 »
Ive got a problem when I try and do a uvw map for a model in 3ds max 7. Ive looked at loads of tutorials but I just dont know where im going wrong.

Ive got my uvw map and I made a rough texture just so I could see that it works, but when I import the bitmap into the material editor it becomes a 2d texture and I cant apply it to the 3d model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I've got it all sorted. But there's just one annoying thing, when i add the material to the object it doesn't display in the viewport.

It's nothing really important, the texture can be easily seen when I render the object but its just from the tutorials I've seen the texture's on the model in the viewport.

Hopefully a mod might be on the way  :D

If you want see your texture in the viewports you must activate the button "show map in viewport" in the material editor

I've got the kit but I can't open the model due to missing Dlls.  :(

Missing are:
FileName: SceneLoaderEffect.dlu Class: Scene Effect Loader
FileName: biped.dlc                    Class: SharedMotionFlows
FileName: biped.dlc                    Class: Resevoir
FileName: biped.dlc                    Class: Max Mixer Clip
FileName: Built In                       Class: TrackSetList

Does anybody know how to fix this?

I'm running 3ds 7 if that helps.

hum, the kit archives are from max 8, you can't open it with max 7, only with max 8 or 9

Ahh that explains why my friend could open it. O well, he can now be responsible for modelling the units, I'll stick to buildings. lol

Ooooo does the export plugin work for 3ds 7? I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks again for your help Tucho
