AI could be improved
« on: 19 April 2007, 11:52:21 »
I have tried to play with an AI companion against two other AI players. Me and my ally play as magic and the opponents are tech. But everytime I am very disappointed by the bad decisions made by my ally.

I noticed that my ally was killed very early in the game, so I started a new game, and I sent an initiate to his base and build some golems for his protection. Then when he was attacked he had 3 golems at his base (one of them was his own). But shortly after that all his deamons and battle mages were dead, and he sent all his initiates to battle! :(  He could have survived by the protection of the golems.

The AI also seems to move its golem regularly without a reason, so of course it never has enough EP when it is needed. I have the impression that the AI is too general; it does not take all the properties of its units into account. It probably knows that initiates can attack but does not realise that it is not at all a good idea to use them in battle. And it does not see that moving a golem is costly and should be done with care.

also i think it seems that the AI dosnt use the "morph skills" this came to my view when i made a glest mod based on life with no build skills, and various unit attributes like harvesting, firecrafting, and mining, and becoming a soldier with equipment upgrades but all the AI does is run its units in circles and it doesn't do anything.

the cpu ultra is more superior than normal cpu
they morph.harvest resource faster and create huge army
but i should accept that the fact golem are moved unnesscearly....

No. Look below this page:

CPU Ultra is the same as the normal CPU, but it has to pay less for buildings, units & investigations.

i don't think you observed the fact that cpu ultra(in magic)morphes 4 or 5 summoner to drake rider, battlemage to archmageand explores and finds enemy base faster.
(in tech)the morph more numbers of tecnician to catpult, battlemachine and had much bigger armmy consit more horse.
once i also observed that ultra also reseached the 2nd level armor researchthe also have bigger number of air units

Can be, but just because it's cheaper. The only difference is that one, that it has to pay less, this was confirmed by Martiño (the programmer).

I guess it would be too hard to create an ultra smart CPU player that does not have to cheat :) (they often cheat in other RTS games too)

no you just give it extra resource to start with,
replace the current faction so you would have tech1, tech2 ect

the ones would be for you and 2's would be for the computer, configure the unit settings on the 2 files and divided all attack times by 3 and multiply by 2
so that for every time your guy attacks twice his attacks 3 times, in my opinion that is the best way to get a better AI,

I beat 3 of them

tech is faction that builds more, thats it. u see what a cpu utra do with tech - always start bulding a farm at the beginning. magic produces more initiates than tech workers. (workers can't fight, but initiates "can") so they have their style of playing. i am confused why does cpu ultra makes so many summoners?
deamons r similar to swordmans, magic armor to armored swordsman, archer to battlemage, drake rider to horseman, deamon giant to battlemachine, golem to catapult, dragon to ornithoper, etc. ah, yea and summoner to barracks  and AI should use retreating sometimes, right? :)
