Game speed problem...
« on: 31 May 2004, 19:29:43 »
Sup,
I'm not sure if it's my PC(it's pretty old) but when I try to move away from my base, the game slows down really bad.

What happens is: I'll select a group of units and start to move away from my base. The further I move away from my base, the more the framerate drops until it's frozen. What's weird is, when I move back to my base(if I catch it before it slows down too much) it will speed back up again to a playable framerate.

Like I said, my PC is pretty outdated so maybe it's just that.
It's a 600 Mhz Pentium 3 with a GeForce 2. Could that be the problem?

about that...i had a same problem...

and its not happening cuz you are away from yours base but cuz

u are close to water which is getting a bit tough for slow machines...

so go to glest.ini and edit
StencilBits=8
Textures3D=0
UpdateFps=40
it like this....the water will look like a foggy mirror but better frame rate.
enhance debugging mode if u wanna see da difference....

and if it is still slow...then turn your music off...
that helps...by the way my pc is also 600 with geforce4...

The problem is that gf2 cards dont support 3d textures, so just disable them in the config menu. (you can also edit glest.ini as jjejj87 says but we added this option to the menu on v0.7.1 so its easier to change).

See "3d card tips" topic for further info.
