« on: 25 June 2007, 19:00:06 »
i have an idea for new faction. it cloud be aliens factions. this is how i imagined it:

food/energy is acid

Workers and fighters:
that should be aliens of different type

other units:
moving acid (like cow and pig)
toxic acid (defence like golem)

researching:
toxic acid
star ships
blue fire (for fighting)

buildings:
base (main building like castle and mage tower)
acid factory (like farm, but this can produce acid for food and for defence)
alien producer

etc.

if u av some more ideas for this, write it.

I'm all for having as many mods as we can make, but the biggest problem I see is getting actual models and textures. Anyone can get software like GIMP to make textures, although it is time consuming. However, at the moment, I am under the impression that models can only be produced in 3DSMAX under windows or in blender under linux. If windows users cacn get blender to export g3d's, then pretty much everyone could start making new models, but until then, it is up to a select few.

there are no problems getting modells from blender to glest under windows.
the workflow is:
- blender 2.44 for example (http://www.blender.org)
- modelling of course, animating
- export to xml via the new exporter, can be found on (http://www.titusgames.de)
- convert to g3d via GLEXEMPEL, as far as i know the only way is by commandline. run "commandline" (start->aditional?->...) go to the path of the xml2g.exe (chdir c:\glexempel\ [enter]) and the run "xml2g.exe filename.xml desiredfilename.g3d" [enter]

if you have any questions you may ask  :O

Thanks! It works now! I think my problems might be related to working in blender... But I can at least get a sketchup model into the game now!!! :D
