its sometimes hard to use glest map editor because he havent any buttons. i recommend you to put buttons in map editor so making maps can be easier.
BTW: maybe i can help by drawing buttons, and then some programmer put it in editor

The map editor uses wxWidgets. For someone wanting to try this there is an example of an application with a toolbar on their website.

Heya guys!

Anyone thinking about implementing these? I know this is ancient, but I still want buttons!  :)

Here's a concept screenshot witch I made years ago (you can see it's an old build):

If this is actually going to work after all these years we could make some nicer icons in Inkscape, but even these 16-colored will simplify map creation.

Sorry about my bad English back then. :-[

BTW Off Topic: Why are certain parts of text so huge? Is that because of the migration from the old forum?
EDIT: also the links are all messed up.

Hi andy,

I think buttons would be a nice addition for the map editor, I was thinking of using modman's icons (with his permission, of course) for glest related files,
https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=5066.0

But, buttons for the map editor I'll gladly accept :)

Your links have gone 'screwy' but they can be followed after an edit, but visiting your blog only results in a "This blog is open to invited readers only" message.

If you can provide button images, even not so nice looking old ones ;), I'm sure someone can be convinced to add them, and if not, then I'll do it myself.

If you want to make nicer ones, that's great! but please provide the old ones so someone has something to 'get started' with.

Please correspond further in this topic,

Cheers.

Thanks for your reply.

The blog is also messed up, but I have transferred all of my Glest-related files from the old computer, so it's not a problem to upload again.

Here it is: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2044596/glest/andy0101_buttons_v01.zip (201 kB)

These are in ICO and PNG format. If you need to convert them, I suggest using this program (Windows only):
FastStone Photo Resizer: http://www.faststone.org/FSResizerDetail.htm

It can convert all selected images at once. However, if you need to convert them to TGA format, you need full FastStone Image Viewer (also free):
http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

Converting between ICO and PNG is done with IcoFX (it's also the program I used to design these icons): http://icofx.ro/
For conversion, go to Tools > Batch Process.

@titi: I really don't remember making the font so huge. It must be something with SMF misinterpreting phpBB codes, because I saw other people have this size too. Font size, I mean. :D

Take a look at RainCT's posts (he was a moderator on this board when I was active, I'm not sure if he still is): https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?action=profile;u=552;sa=showPosts
Post # 21 has huge font, but the context suggests that the font should actually be smaller than the rest of the text.
Here's another one: https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=1109.msg9123#msg9123

So I'm pretty sure it's a technical problem that happened when administrators decided to migrate from phpBB to SMF. Of course, I could be wrong, and I'm sorry if that's the case.
