I can't wait for Vikings in Glest. Is it playable now, or the techtree is not completed?

I just finished "The Sea of Trolls" Don't the berzerkers drink bog myrtle to go berserk?  I've never heard of inhaling a root before. But that's what the wikia says.

It is a great book. And I'm sure it'll be a good guide to follow about northmen. Anyone else has a copy or read it?

And when is there going to be a release? I mean, you could just release the models and textures you have so far. It doesn't have to be complete. I mean, give us something to tinker with. I'll put together a bad, but working mod if I get the files. Computer crashes are rather common these days, so the more you release, the better. That way, if you lose the files, other people still have it. Quite a few mods have been aborted because of lost files.

Don't worry, northmen is'nt dead although i must admit i haven't spend much time on it lately.
At the moment i play around with my first linux-steps ;). I have KDE (Kubuntu ~7.04).
You can help us whenever you want, For example a archer-unit is needed, but see our wikia-page for further info. You can contact Titi for our webspace..

Perhaps you want to paint on the Axeman-unit? then i will mail you the *.blend.

My artistic skills are quite bad, really. You can see for yourself if you look closely at my magic mod. I was just suggesting a release. It could be a pre-alpha release with everything done so far. That way, newcomers and all members could contribute, then at the end we put all the contributions and work done together. New ideas are always welcome, at least in my opinion.

I don't know if u want this or not.

I found a neat viking helmet that would look pretty neat on your models, I think.

Thanks, but it's not free!
This helmet model costs 55$!?!
And it's made mit 3ds Max, so I cannot use it.

But, I can use the idea for the vikings :)
( The way they made the horn for example )

Hello, it was some time ago when i wrote last time ;)
So here is a new unit for the viking-mod.
It is an archer with a (viking?) bow and a cap.
The armor is once again wool but you can post any other kind of clothes if you have a good hint.
Thats my major problem: The Armor of Sword-Spear and Axeman is not very individually.
OK, here a screen.

well, yes ;)
Till now i always used the original glest-heads because by this the modell looks much like glest-style. I also used a blendfile with several Glest-units in order to have the right scale and thickness of the body. At the moment i haven't got this file any longer ... so i have to recreate it. So thats the reason.
How comes you answer so quickly;) ?

Hello everyone,
The archer is making good progress. This time i consider animating before texturing, because i always find some details which must be changed in order to get a non overlapping animation. I have nearly finished a walking animation and i tried to make hi sneak a little bit.
This far i am very satisfied with the riggind, it looks good in blender, i will find out about ingame later.
Greetings, weedkiler.

Thor or someone else with a big hammer:
A glest ready unit ( work in progress !!!). Unpack it in the tech faction  I hope it works there )

The models are getting better - you may want to go back and redo some of the original models for this mod which are below the standards of more recent ones.

Well they wouldn't really need to do that. If anything needs to updated, it would be textures before a model. A texture is what makes all the difference, and it's the hardest part, lol.

I understand your thought and think it , too.
On the other hand there is so much left to do that we will put most effort into finishing the faction. When its all done we can use our time again redoing modells and fixing complicated animations.
But often the models have errors which can hardly improved without changing it from the base on.

hope the progress gets faster now, weedkiller ;)
