Mod for magic.
« on: 19 July 2007, 05:48:24 »
I have just created my first mod for the magic faction.

Download here: http://http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/19/794169/magic_upgrades.zip

It is very rudimentary, but playable. :D The mod currently gives the magic faction a huge advantage, perfect for those who just want to say that the beat three CPU ultras teamed together (it's easier than you think with this mod). Anyone willing to help balance the mod out or tweak it is more than welcome, as I am new here. Please comment. Advice from the experienced or even the unexperienced is always helpful.

Units include:

Warrior Daemon: Light/medium melee unit. Upgrade of the daemon.
Golden Warrior: Heavy melee unit. Upgrade of the warrior daemon.

Ninja Daemon: Light melee unit with a fast speed and high attack. Upgrade of the daemon.
Ninja Lord: Heavy melee unit with low health, fast speed, high regeration, large sight, and high attack. Upgrade of the Ninja Daemon.

Fire Giant: Heavy melee unit with medium health, high attack, and fast speed. Upgrade of the Daemon Giant.

Mage: Light ranged unit with a good repair skill.
Wizard: Expensive heavy ranged unit with lots of extremely high attack skills. Produces magic golems, and is an upgrade of the mage.

Magic Golem: Heavy ranged unit with high armor and attack. Has two skills, and is the base of both light and dark golems.
Light Golem: Heavy ranged unit with a high health and low attack. Upgrade of the magic golem.
Dark Golem: Heavy ranged unit with a very strong attack and large regeneration abilities. Upgrade of the magic golem. (The wall push attack sometimes
can't be seen except for a gray line. Try moving the camera around to see it. If you can, please help me on this problem.)

Try it out. My only goal is to add to the wonderful glest community and to contribute my share. I hope at least two or three people enjoy it. If you do, please comment.

Also, I always welcome e-mails. I will try to reply as fast as I can.

Why thank you. At least someone's gonna try it out! And that was pretty darn fast. That really shows me how good of a moderator you are!

A few things:
- stone_defender unit doesn't exist which screws up daemon_giant, dark_golem, mage
- stone_soldier doesn't exist which screws up dark_golem, mage
- magic armor-type didn't exist
- unit magic_barrier doesn't exist which screws up initiate, mage, wizard
- magician doesn't exist which screws up mage_tower

The entries needed to be removed before a game would start. I didn't really test anything.

Thanks a lot, hailstone. I fixed everything except for:
- magic armor-type didn't exist

What did you mean by magic armor type didn't exist? I ran a search for the term, "magic_armor" through all the files without generating a result. I uploaded the new file.

Again, thanks.

Thanks again, hailstone. I fixed that and uploaded it. And to firedeathbot, no, I didn't change the models. Sorry if I disapointed you, it is my first. I know how to model in blender, but haven't yet learned to animate. I thought it would be worse to have still models move around, so I just changed the textures. I'm not great with photoshop, although I have it. And fireborn, I stole your magic barrier unit. If you don't like that, just say so and I will remove it. It was a great unit.
