Upgrades
« on: 9 June 2004, 01:15:28 »
I am making an upgrade for my Command Center (Castle) that makes it have a Helipad which allows the creation of Helicopters. Everything was going well until I actually DID the upgrade. When I did the upgrade I could no longer build buildings because all of my buildings required a NORMAL Command Center (Not an upgraded one). Is there a way to make the building requirements similar to this:

<unit-requirements>
            <unit name="Command_Center"/> OR <unit name="Command_Center_Helipad"/>
<unit-requirements/>

When do you think the next major version will be out?

In one month or two, by now you will be unable to use upgradeable buildings as requirements.

Cool, could you try to implement the turret rotation effect too?

Sorry for the extremely late reply, I am on vacation in europe and I am lucky that they have a computer room at the St. Andrew's Bay Resort and Spa. So far I have seen London and Scotland. Yes I am working on a faction that includes modern units. I haven't finished it yet, all I need to do is complete the death animations, screw around with the voices, and a few other things. If you want, I can post a few renders of my units and a few screenshots when I get back from europe (I come back the 17th I think). I hope to talk to you then. (Tomorrow might be my last day to use the computer so bye everyone).

It would be great to have a modern faction in Glest. I would see it now, tanks flying into ruins, blowing up the magicians...and the Scienists. Mayhem everywhere. They could be the faction of the "Gods" of Glest, if Humanity unites and declare war against these "Gods".

It would ruin the Middle-Ages part of Glest, so...I doubt it would happen. It would still be cool however.

Some of the newer textures and units have not been implemented and the main menu needs some work.

Nice work  :D  !!

Did you make all the models? I seem to remember you are 13 years old; I'm surprised at you!

congratulations.

Ditto. These models are akin to those with Command and Conquer games. If a Campagin Editor occurs, I would like to play those military campagins....

Wait. Why wait? Once you upload Silent Assualt 0.7, I'll be your first customer! I cant wait to play SA and use your models for my creations.

Sadly, the harvester model is the one I had to "borrow" but soon I will make one of my own using the current one as a guideline. I appreciate your comments about my models, yes I am only 13 but I find modelling somewhat easy and fun. Mainly the textures make the models look good but the units are small in-game so it doesnt make much of a difference.

Ok, I decided to keep the bulldozer but instead of using it the way it came originally, I decided to reduce the polygon count which would slow the game down. After spending forever trying to remove useless polygons I relized that I had completely mutulated the model. Fortunately Glest automatically smoothed the models so it looks and plays better than before.
