I can't remember exactly what website I found it on, but Glest was listed in the "top 5 games" category. So I downloaded it.

I found Glest on downloadfreegames.com.  I downloaded it, but I didn't realize its moability until I went to glest.org.

Glest is already portable (just copy the files to your device and run) but to be a proper PortableApps program the installer would need to be setup (step 4). Also reducing the size if it's possible. (step 5)

I have linux. I found it on add remove. (prety handy you just brows the games and check out the ones you want and click apply changes   8)

well... I'm not sure what pulled me to the site...
I had just installed Ubuntu on my laptop, then I put the Enlightenment (e17) desktop on it.
it was too cool for school. but it needed some games. so I searched.
I have always loved RTS, such as: Warcraft, Age of Empires, Battle Realms, C&C Generals, Star Wars - Galactic BattleGrounds, and Empire at War.
so I browsed the web for open source RTS games.
I found Glest. at first I thought it was ...eh... but the more I played the more I loved it.

So I guess I really found out about Glest on the Wikipedia directory of Open Source games.

Thinking one night, I realized I never shared how I found Glest. It's been too long. I can't remember! I think I was looking for free games on Wikipedia or something and there was a picture...

Hmm, maybe there never was a picture, as I can't find anything like that. I think it was from the 'list of open source games'. I was just randomly picking games that sound gooded (by genre) and seeing if I should download. Glad I did!
