Planets?
« on: 24 September 2007, 02:26:18 »
The planets for my mod are gonna be 1 layer, since I can't make the 3 layers work. The 3 layers: the surface, the clouds, & the atmosphere.

I figured out how to get my spheres to rotate correctly on a tilt. I managed to make a cloud texture, but I don't know how to draw clouds. Too bad my texture for the atmosphere kept showing up as black. Sigh...

Maybe you guys know the solution?

I'd like to hear about this mod of yours... Planets? it sounds very interesting...

I made a space mod (see it on the wiki) never finished it though, it contained a black ground covered by an invisible object which prevented land units from crossing and small, colored, exposed hills that land units could be used on. Satellites and space stations could move freely in the air. Actually, all it needs are fighters, but I won't finish it for a long time, if ever. Anyway, here's a link http://http://glest.wikia.com/wiki/Space_Faction (None of the models have textures b/c I don't know how to get textures from blender into G3D.)

I guess the weakness of my attempt was that the "planets" were two dimensional in nature; they were just hills. If you've found a way to have spherical planets, I'm sure we'd all like to see it.
