GMax instead of 3dsMax

Instead of using 3dsmax, would anyone recommend using GMAX (A lightweight 3dsmax made by discreet). It is compatible with the glest model exporter. I just want to know if there is any reason why I shouldn't use gmax or blender.

If it is compatible there is maybe no reason.
Haven't heard about it for a long time.
In the early days it was design to be free, but for exporters(to be allowed to run in) the game-developers have to pay.
Don't know it is illegal to use the exporter for it, because the glest team didn't pay for it. But maybe there is no problem. You should ask at autodesk.
