Weather Systems
« on: 28 January 2008, 17:31:56 »
Hello!
I was going to try and implant a dust system into my SST:LD mod. I know there is snow so I should beable to edit the snow. Is there a way i can change the colour/speed/denisty?

Thank!

I think not, the snow and the rain are predefined, I think you only can change the particle bitmap, but I'm not sure, maybe Martinho have a better answer

for dust (fog) there is an entry in the tilesets xml. Probably this helps you.

Quote
      <fog enabled="true" mode="2" density="0.02" color-red="0.3" color-green="0.7" color-blue="0.8"/>

wow, Glest is such a cool engine.  It probably wouldn't be too hard to add weather to some XML, but there is a fair amount of code where the weather is hard-coded to a set of values.  I haven't examined this yet (still working on the effects & upgrades).

Thanks all of you,

Titi I have added fog, while adding a atmosphere it isn't quite what I need. Daniel It would be really great if you would be able to look at some of the weather stuff and maybe add some new XML, but I understand you are learning and im in no rush, people like you are the ones that are gonna make glest extra cool :D

I reckon it might be interesting to have a weather system that changes depending on how your local weather is. It would get information from a Bureau of Meteorology.

I doubt this will happen but it would be interesting.

Or like in The Settlers (all my ideas come from the settlers apparently, heh), the weather is a big influence there. Some resources are available at some times, others aren't etc.
