How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
« on: 6 February 2008, 00:55:47 »
I think this is a brilliant online book by Eric S. Raymond and Rick Moen that everyone should read before asking for help on the internet. This website gives good tips too.

Great, now we just miss the book on how to answer the smart way (;

People won't continue to ask proper questions if others don't even bother to read them completely if it is longer then five lines.

Here it happens too often that people just scry a post for keywords and give some standart response.

Example: I compiled the game and copied the programm and the .ini from the source folder to the data folder, but when starting I get this error: Font not found.

First response (from one of the developers): use the .ini from the source folder...
...
grrrar.

You raise some good points Duke.

I did some research and found these websites.

How to answer political questions - Even though it is targeted towards politics it has useful information for answering any question.

How to Use Questions to Answer Questions

How to answer questions the smart way which goes on to link to How to Build a User Community

How To Be A Good Guru

And finally a website to ask stupid questions. lol :O Doesn't seem to be up to date though.
