Avatars?

Now I dont think gigantic avatars is worth it, and I'm not keen on animated avatars, btu what does worry me is that when I came here the avatar settings where stricter than most sites I'd ever been on, and they're considered strict by most people.

But what miffs me is they're getting stricter!!!! 64x64 off site linked <4kb? Could we not up it to 80x80 6kb at the very least? This is the only site I know of that has 64x64 avatars as the maximum size, its ridiculous!

And bandwidth is no excuse because you're wasting bandwidth left right and centre in other places! nm all those useless rank icons you have and the flashy community beta site, or that anyone who enters this community has to download a 50MB installer package!

Should bandwidth really be the problem I'd be happy to allot some of my 5TB of spare bandwidth each month towards avatars. It can't be that much of a load to cache a 6kb avatar?! Even on dialup I had no problems with that, nm broadband ADSL/Cable....

May I ask you, what do you want to use those large avatars for? (a little anti-english...)

its nice to have an avatar, nothing too big, but 64x64 is a little too small.

What really puts the 4kb limit to shame is that your deamon rank icon under your user name is a 25KB jpeg, and my avatar is a 1.5kb gif.
