v1.0 won´t feature multiplayer, and we don´t know if we´ll ever implement it. We are the first ones to recognize its importance, but at least for now it is simply too much :(

it not such a problem to build a multiplayer code, the problems are to pay for a normal high bandwidth server and make sure it doesnt lag.

I didn't understand too much from these, but I didn't wait for a Battle-net-like thing, I just want a LAN version, for little max.4Person Lan Games.

Isn't that Possible????

BUT WHY?

hey!
what do you want??
if you want multiplay, then pay for it.
there is one programmer working less-than-half-time on this game, it's amazing this game even got this far!

I would be willing to donate if Martino promised to add multiplay and that there was no way Glest would die in the next few years.

marthinho can always get ppl to help him with the code but there are some problems:
ppl need to learn how it works.
maybe the code is a bit messed up, martinho worked alone at first so it didn't matter.
its hard to divide the work when the code was originaly designed for a 1 person job.
maybe he simply doesn't want to.

Ultraq, i think u r getting a wrong picture here, we are asking if it is possible to do and most of us r looking for LAN anyway, besides I really do think everyone knows that it is only martino whose coding, yet he him self didn't acquire us users or fans to pay for it, besides if we have to pay for it, then Glest is losing its characteristics. I agree with strikershot21, we can wait but at the end, we were just asking...don take it so seriously, it is martino and da guyz who needs to make a statement.

Hey Guyz!!! Calm down!
We just ask!
And about the pay Factor: It's not the thing If pay or not!
When ultraq sayz: If you want it, by for it!

I couldn't go to the next shop and say: "One Glest Multiplayer, please."
We asked about creating, not about having.

We can't say enough, how we love you Glest-Guyz!!!

I said to DONATE just to be sure that multiplayer was implemented, I would be really disappointed if I complete my Glest game but multiplayer isnt supported. I would have no way for my friends to enjoy it. (other than single player)

I'm almost done with the basics but the thing is, I just recently formatted my hard-drive so I made sure to save the models I had already done. the thing is, I copied the wrong folder. I thought for sure all of my work had been lost but luckily I found an earlier version of the folder that held all of my models. The older folder had all of my models in it except my sniper model and a few changes I made to other models. so I should be back on track in a week once I redo my sniper.

Hi all!

I too hope there will be a multyplay option so I can share my home-made
factions with others.  :( (if you make your own skins, then with
  what program?)

Why can't I find skins ?! O_o

I think you misunderstood me a little 8).
Cause I have all the modells I need but most of them are all white,
because of the lack of skins/textures  :)

Oh and Tucho or Martino pls I beg you to send me a faction color editing
with photoshop cause I'm strugling with it.
My -email is : ropispk-^-freemail.hu Thx.

Editing faction colors is easy, you just have to add transparency to the textures in photoshop (you have to save them as TGA, not as BMP), and then mark the objects you want in 3dsmax. Objects marked with CustomTexture=True will have their alpha component replaced by the faction color, any other objects will have transparency as usual.

Yes thats the problem, we want first to finish the single player game. Then when v1.0 is released we will think on future lines of work. I know that multiplayer is a very important feature in a RTS, but I can't promise anything.

Ropi, if you do a search on google for "skins" you won't find any. Try using the word "texture" instead. Also, if you modelling something off of a real object try typing in the name of the object (for example: I want to find a lamp texture. go to google, type in Lamp as your search then go to the images page. then just use a real life picture for a texture)

Some images of the magic armor texture for Ropi, or anyone interested in the texture creation.

The finished texture

The original pictures

And the development in photoshop

Tucho could you explain to me how you made the textures all one image? I have to apply each texture manually and I end up having 100 tga files after I export.

Hi all !
Sorry for the late reply, but I was on a party with some friends

To Tucho : Hmmm, I see.
texture editing looks hard to me, all I know about photoshop
is this layering to make faction colours, but no more   .
(one problem about real life objects/textures : do aliens axist on Earth ?  :D

PS: It would be cool if you could make an export plugin to export
partycle systems, so it would be possible to make flame-trowers
      and stuff.  8)  )

Yes Aliens do exist on earth. They are illegal immigrants from other countries trying to cross the border to another country.
