the binary 3.1.0 ( updated package! )
« on: 14 February 2008, 17:24:59 »
Does this binary work for all? Please test it, when it is good it will probabaly be the official one. ( the editor is included too )

( I included the patch of ttsmj http://www.glest.org/glest_board/viewto ... 3539#13539 )

EDIT:
I updated the linux bin package. It's still the same binary but the package
includes glest.ini, some libs and a startscript (glest) now:

http://www.titusgames.de/glest_3.1.0_linux.tar.gz

- this should be compatible with the former distribution because it's the same binary
- the startscript writes logfiles by default. If you don't want them, edit the scriptfile.
- start glest to run the game.
- if you still have trouble with the fonts, edit glest.ini and replace the font name with "fixed"

( note: if you want to install glest download and install the datapackage first: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/glest/ ... g_mirror=0)

Yeah it's strange, the old data file contained a faulty .ini, the new doesn't contain one at all.

Are you sure that you installed helvetica? Ubuntu doesn't contain it at default, try arial or times.

This is because ini files are different for Windows/Linux, so I don't want to confuse the users of any of the platforms.

A sry I recall that. It doesn't work.

I confused the directory and accidentally started my self compiled 3.0.0 so it was no wonder it worked (;

edit: he says he can't find libxerces-c.so.27, but itis in my usr/lib, where is he searching it?

Works on OpenSuse 10.3 32 bit. Sadly the problem "Couldn't process event: Error getting host by name (Error: No such file or directory)"  with the "New Game" continues.

I updated the linux bin package. It's still the same binary but the package includes glest.ini, some libs and a startscript (glest) now:

http://www.titusgames.de/glest_3.1.0_linux.tar.gz

- this should be compatible with the former distribution because its the same binary
- the startscript writes logfiles by default. If you dont want them, edit the scriptfile.
- start glest to run the game.
- if you still have trouble with the fonts, edit glest.ini and replace the font name with "fixed"

@duke this is a 32bit binary, it needs the 32bit version of this library. It is included in the package now. Can you test it?

ok, tried again, now he is complaining about libvorbis. It seems he can't find any of the required libs on my 64bit System.
I tried copying mine into the lib folder, but that didn't help.

I got it to work, but I had to grab the 32-bit libs from the following packages and stick them in the lib folder (included are links to the Ubuntu Gutsy packages, which I extracted to get to the libs):

libvorbis (http://http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libvorbis0a)
libvorbisfile (http://http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libvorbisfile3)
libogg (http://http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libogg0)
libopenal (http://http://packages.ubuntu.com/gutsy/libopenal0a)
