open gl problem

What do I need in order to use shodow Mapping? I cant use it and get "OpenGL extension not supported: GL_ARB_shadow_ambient, required for Shadow Mapping" this is on a computer less than 4 months old. Thanks in advance.

You can't use shadow mapping, it has something to do with your graphical card/chipset not supporting OpenGL the way it should.

From the little I understand of that, it means that the video chip (GPU) doesn't support that feature.  But since other rendering is done on the GPU (the video card's processor), the driver can't just implement it because that runs on the CPU (the main processor).
