Xfire
« on: 15 February 2008, 07:46:45 »
Xfire is a game tracker/IM/lobby client.  I would please ask all users to add a game request for Xfire to support glest.
Just bump this thread please!

Not possible, XFire would need a way to start glest programatically which means dragging up a taboo subject which the official developers deem flamebait.

Xfire drops you into game using the game's Command Line options...  IT shouldn't be hard at all to set up -serverIP and -ServerPort options...  That's all Xfire requires, it's not something that says "We support XFire", it's something that should be there anyway.

Indeed, I have been asking for official support for such a command line parameter too for my own lobby.

I think some kind of key must be already there, since Glest gets added to the Add/Remove programs windows menu...

Found it :D
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Glest_is1\InstallLocation

Kinda icky though.  Can we have something like HKLM\Software\Glest\Install_path as well?

Well we could have another key, but it would contain the same information...

yes, but I don't one that relies upon installshield staying the same.  I'd much rather one dictated by the glest team.

No problem :) Anything for Glest. After it gets supported we should create a guild on xfire. So we're going to know when someone who play Glest is online et cetera.

Mission Complete.I told you that it will get supported :)

By the way : the game was added in the games section on the site. But it will be added to xfire , today in the temporarily update. So we'll be able to detect it .I also hope it has in game chat.WE'll be able to take screenshots if it has.

Well I just started up Xfire (first time in ages) and downloaded the update. Glest is not detected or on the available games list    Maybe it will take a few more days to be supported?

Glest is supported. If the update's status is DONE (at files) then it's ready.Just restart xfire .It's in the UNINSTALLED games list.Actually if you installed the game by default , it should auto-detect it :)
