Need help with installation

I'm so new to Linux that I'm having great difficulty installing the game. I've just made the plunge with Ubuntu. I have been a long time windows user and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have downloaded ver 3.1.0 and extracted the contents into a folder.

I apologize for such a basic question, but I would really like to be able to wrap my head around this O/S.

Also, try using the irc to ask questions RE: instalation.
