how can i build glest on windows?
« on: 19 February 2008, 09:02:01 »
I'm Vietnamese IT student. I know glest when i visited sourceforge. I have downloaded glest source code. I can't build glest on Windows , i can't find VC project file or solution file. Does Glest use any 3D library such as OpenGL or G3D ...? Does Glest use VC6 compiler on Windows or another compiler? Please help me, Thanks!

We use VC.NET to compile Glest under windows, we use OpenGL, Vorbis, Xerces and DirectSound for windows. It shouldnt be very difficult to create your own solution if you are compiling under windows.

But beware of the same problem we have in linux with different binaries in multiplayermode!

Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

There are two threads on this.  I just posted on how to do this with MSVC++ 2008 Express Edition here: http://http://www.glest.org/glest_board/viewtopic.php?t=3271. And there is a very old thread on using MSVC++ 5.0, but you'll have to search for it.  In my recently posted instructions, I posted links to my solution and project files, but again, they aren't for the same version you are using and may not work.
