Some ideas

Hi

This is my first post!  :D
Here are my ideas:
1- Can you make units follow paths? maybe by shift clicking?
2- Can you make units (when a group is selected) have an option Formation?    (this might be hard to program) It is frustrating when a group of archmages go and kill them selfs from splash damage, or when one unit goes ahead of the others and gets himself killed.
3- Some bind that selects lazy workers
4- Allies being able to share already harvested resources and maybe control over units? or to do that one of the allies has to build a market?
5- Maybe allow Daemons to have an ability - hide - this makes them invisible untill they move or an enemy unit comes close. (only works in trees?)
6- Have a unit called Ranger or Hunter - (for tech) they have bows and swords and can hide.
7- Farms should be able to create horses (after stables upgrade) mostly any tech can get on it - for faster transportation, and better attack (knights on horses or archers on horses) and rangers or hunters (if created) should get more hp and attack power.
8- Tileset Blizzard - everything is covered in snow low visibility. Also all water turns to ice - units should slide on it and air units should move in the direction of the wind (slowly of fast).
9- solstice tilesets - all day or all night
10- units should get more power during night or day
11- Sand box mode - when you can pause the game and do what ever you like - to test stratigies, test AI, etc.

*maybe some one could create this for a mod - "Alchemy" as a new fraction?
A combination of tech and magic.
some ideas - "Fountain of life" would be used like mana or food
research philosophers stone - makes all units stronger or a unit that can control other units (enemy) using the stone, or even bringing back the dead?
research Transmutation - allows you to make resources from other resources - 2:1 or 3:1

I like some of your ideas, but others I don't like so much.

#1 is pretty well implemented into GAP (Glest Advanced Pack)
#2 I'd like this too, not only for Archmages, but for any regular Tech or Magic unit.
#3 is already in the latest of Glest. Just press I whenever you are not in free camera mode.
#4 would be an especially nice feature. How many times I could've used his gold... XD
#5 I like the idea of a hide capability, but I think it should be at least in other units, if not this one. Just my opinion.

#7 I don't quite understand this on...
#8 If I'm correct, winter forest ought to do the trick.
#9 Another good idea, although, I really hate staring at an almost black screen.
#10 Good idea.
#11 Man, would I love that.

#5  This is hopefully going to be implemented in the FPM mod.

#9 You can already do this on any tileset by editing the day/night values in the xml file.

#10 This is a cool idea and would certainly add a tactical element. Possibly you could have units that auto-morph at night i,e werewolves.

Transmutation - This is already possible using xml. Just specify an upgrade where you pay a certain amount of resource (100g) and the result is a negative resource (-100w).

Thanks for the feed back!

7- Farms can create pigs and cows, so why not be able to create horses (not for food) after the stables upgrade? Allowing units to get on the horse? For faster transportation and more powerful units?
8- The winter tileset has every thing covered in snow and sometimes it snows, but tileset blizzard would be the same except it is always snowing a lot - making visibility low and making all water ice - the winter tileset doesn't do that.


some more ideas
12- Add wild life like wolfs and bears - so that they can be controled (or tamed) and then you can make them turn into were wolfs. Or deer so that tech can produce food without farm (again the hunter unit might have an ability tame) And maybe some maps should have dragon eggs? Requires a lot of resources to hatch but worth it.

13- different game styles - currently its DM or TDM (Death Match) how about Capture and Hold? you have an area (or many) that have to have one of your units in it for a period time to win? (no enemy base attacks thou)
or how about "Escort" you start with two more units - King and Queen (for tech) and you have to escort them to a certain place in the map? 300 points for king (if full health) less if damaged. 200 points for Queen (if full health) and 150 points if you destroyed the enemy before the Queen or King got to the certain place. Also can be used for campaign.

Maybe there could be an entity in a faction that takes over an animal converting it into a unit? Such as take over a wolf and become a werewolf.

I was thinking that there could be a unit that can tame animals (for tech maybe hunter) and for magic they could tame them and then make them were-animals?

OR for magic to make were-animals you have to first make a unit that tames animals, then get the hell gate upgrade, and build a hell gate (new idea) and send the animals into the gate - after some time they become were-animals

14- hell gate - a build able structure - make any unit that goes into it more powerful (for animals were-animals) only lasts the night and to build it you need to sacrifice mana, each unit you send into it, the more it requires.

*Off topic question - Can they make it so you don't have to download the new version completely? Only the upgrade from the previous version?

nice ideas dude but i already created some of that but not exactly how yo said it

i love all your ideas but some of em you can already do

umm i'm going to add on to some of your ideas X3

#15 a boss system i know you can already do this but how about the boss having commands no other faction has like if his health gets low he runs back to his base or something like that (if you like to add on go ahead)

#16 a story mode i'm tired of after each game i have to start over i want a story mode and this idea leading up to the one above if not a story mode what about a adventure scenerio where there islike 10 lvls per packet

#17 Bigger Units i know you can do this but i don't think you can because its illegal.....like those dragons i at least wanna see a dragon that takes up more then 2 mage towers put together over even bigger then that what about one that is 264x264px

#18 a glest unit editor where you can color your units without leaving the game and be able to change everything inside that units xml file

15- I was thinking to make the King and Queen as bosses, and for different game play (escort). I don't see the point in having bosses in DM unless it could be a variation - defend your boss(es) and kill the enemy's boss(es)

16- The glest team has other priorities (obviously) , bugs, glitches, and other features. This will have to be done by non-glest team or later when most of the higher priorities are finished, I would love to see a story mode.

17- yeah big units would be fun, but you can do that already in .xml files. Maybe make the dragons grow - (with more kills they grow faster, but with 0 they grow really slowly) first they start young low hp and attk then they get more, then they just grow in size, then they start decreasing in attck but increasing in hp? (Old age  ;) )

18- Yes, that would be very good idea - here come my 999999hp 9999999attck units!!! /sarcasm (only about the 999999 hp units. The editor is a very good idea)

19 - More buildings - like bridges (wooden or stone) , summoning ground ( a circle made of stones and gold) increases summoning speed when a summoner is on it summoning.
