Glest Terrain - a bit technical

Hi; i've noticed that glest nicely blends terrain types, but in the renering code (renderSurface) you only use 1 texture unit (and other for the shadows heh!) . Can someone tell me how do you blend the terrain tiles together?

Terrain is blended by hand, the game creates intermediate tiles using the textures for the several surface types.
