is there anyway to have an attack make a randomized damage? or have the unit make a special attack at random intervals?

i think thats already inside glest. look at the attack-description inside glest and at the xmls of existing units. There you have the base attack value and a other value which goes up (and down? or both, halfhalf...). I dont know the name of the tokens right now but it shouldnt be hard to find.

I believe the var value is the one that tells the range of randomization it can have. (If it's it.)
