Manipulating Glest.ini to achieve the best Frame Rate
« on: 26 April 2008, 21:50:59 »
A lot of my friends have a pretty old video card (GeForce MX 2, etc) and want to know if there is anyway to achieve a better framerate than 15 fps. So, here is a list of things to do that will increase your framerate about 20 fps.

1) In the glest.ini configuration file, change the "DepthBits" value to 16.

2) In the glest ini configuration file, change the "ColorBits" value to 16.

3) Reduce the resolution of the game. For example, if you have a screen resolution of 1024x768, change it to 800x600. The text in the Game will be a little bigger, but it will go faster.

Nice list.

Could also try closing background processes and other general tips for increasing computer performance.

Yer, that sort of stuff. Here are some more tips if you're using Windows XP.
