It doesn't run in linux!
Linux is case sensitive! I wonder if it runs on an apple!?
ok here is the fix script:
http://www.titusgames.de/fixnihilirian.sh

- Unpack nihirlian as described to the techs folder.
- Copy fixnihilirian.sh to techs/nihilirian.
- make fixnihilirian.sh executable ( on console: chmod a+x fixnihilirian.sh)
- execute fixnihilirian.sh
- play

OK and now I try it   :D

Hello, thanks for the great feedback.

I did almost everything on a mac. And especially game testing on Leopard. I didn't know that linux is case sensitive. I will remember that.

I really also enjoy it. I prefer Sirius though... On mac book I get this error I described in Bug reports forum. I guess it is Open GL stuff.

I have played it on multilayer on several machines - always WinXP-WinXP and WinVista-WinXP. It really is amazing! I always kick ass :)

I shall start doing upgrades to the website, also manual and strategies, and I will see if there is a high interest I may start a more larger project with a lot more units, vehicles and flying units, upgrades etc.  called Nihilirian The Return - if you red the story, there is still these real human species that left the world many years ago. They are the returning ones...

I hope this turns out great.

Ok, review away:
I played both factions the other day. I liked the special effects (guns, magic blasts, etc) and liked how one needed to build a city of the soul-producing structures (the normal game usually makes it look kind of sparse).

The things that bothered me were minor. I thought a lot of the units looked very similiar and some looked a little undetailed (is that a word?).

Overall through, I liked it and want to try putting it into my "normal" Glest mod as playable factions. However, when I tried it it started yelling things about how it couldn't do it because it couldn't find the faction or something.

hai SciFi Junkie and 10x for he review :) )  I had to compensate due to time limitations I had. The whole thing including everything, had to be done in less than 2 months. Sleepless months :)

I hope the game gathers more interest so I can start on with the bigger project I have in mind which will expand both races to an unimaginable stages and add a new race also.

It would have been easier if it was a mod on a famous movie or something but it is hard for a game with a new freaky unknown concept...

I hope more ppl turn up with reviews...

this is the best mod I've found so far!

one thing though, i think you should turn up the attack of the spiritea for Arcturus because I've found that atomicas are much more worth the cost.

Hi Osiris,

Well, you might have a point there. I might just lower the Atomica's helth and regen speed but here are some points why I would pick Spiritea:

1)
Spiritea has 950 health and regenerates 5, and armor 3
Atomica has 850 health and regenerates 2, armor 2

2)
Spiritea relatively not that more expensive.

3)
Spiritea takes 140-200 hit points  with range 13.
Atomica takes 75-95 hit points with range 12 - true true has a splash damage.

4)
And once you make Experimental Evolution upgade you add - 100 HP, 50 Mana, 2 sight + 1 range, 10 hit points,  3 armor - where Bionic Implants give to Atomica only Sight and Range.

Great comment btw!

Hello PT,

Engrish:
Thanks for your comment:) I am not German and my German is not that good, but I am studying in Germany. You are right that Sirius are relatively weaker from Arcturus, but Sirius are cheaper, faster produced. Arcturus are more expensive but powerfull, all their buildings and units regenerate... But trust me, I find Sirius the stronger race.

:)

Thanks again!

Hi Omega,

I can break it, I didn't thought that 90mb will be a problem nowadays :)

I will soon make site and game updates and will find another host and store it as well in parts.

Thanks for the tip

The cpu players are not very good in nihirlian. Probabaly you can improve this a bit. A big problem for the cpu are ressources based on buildings ( like "housing"  in my indian mod ). I had to increase the numer of housing points in the tents to get a good cpu behaviour. ( but then I had less tents in the game :( )

Well, truly the AI is lacking and they are not very well prepared for a rush. But once some time pases they get pretty strong.

I noticed though that Sirius develops very quickly and can produce all units and does nice attacks, but on the other hand Arcturus builds mostly basic tree attack units. I haven't seen them making many or any Spiriteas.

Anyway it is very competitive in multi player (human vs human) :)

Increasing housing screwed up the AI more than before.

If anyone has the time to write a few sentences how the AI works may be everyone will be grateful and follow some guidelines so the games are playable not only MP but single player too.

BTW Nihilirian, I need it broken down into ~20MB parts because I have dial-up and 90MB is a little (actually a lot) too much. Also, can it just be the tech tree? No extras or anything, just the tech tree with all the tech tree components? Thanks.

I should mention that its a good idea to download 7z (its a compressor) and compress the file into an excutable auto-extracter (choose 7z format and choose SFX archive) It is among the best file compression programs and the exe auto-extracter makes extracting easy! Thanks!

Or you could get ALZip (a free, yet powerful compression utility for Windows, and maybe Linux ) and use it to compress it. It can compress to, and extract from practically all of the compressed formats in existence (that I know of. ).
