I'm using free download manager, and it works great. On heavy mode, I'm boosting my speed. Although it took me 6 years to load this webpage...          :O

I thought 7zip (and p7zip in linux) was open source . I tryed ALZip and I saw that it works only on windows (or in linux with wine).

i downloaded this: http://www.moddb.com/games/nihilirian-r ... an-rebirth and i compressed it with p7zip. I have a 57 MB compressed file : http://www.mediafire.com/?dq9zvtw4dgb (but mediafire is slow, so get it only if you have a bad connection).

Don't worry, I downloaded it using the Free Download Manager (that's its name) It works great and really boosted my download speed on dial-up (normally average 4kb/sec {REALLY slow} and with FDM, I got 6kb/sec-- Man do I hate dial-up)

Good mod Nihilirian.
At one point though, The foe stopped attacking, and it seemed as though only one type of foe was capible of attacking me. The others would only attack me if that one unit attacked me first. It was a one time thing, but it was kinda weird. I got tons of points since I had lots of kills and little deaths. Even when I attacked them, the foe just kept walking!     )

One of the factions is really out of balence with the other.  It's the one with HP regen.  It's too powerful, or the other faction is too weak.  Consider balencing them out.

After applying the fix posted by titi, there are still files with wrong case (uppercase letters) in the data directory. You can fix them by running the following bash command in the data directory:

Code: [Select]
find -name "*[A-Z]*" -print0 | xargs -0 -L 1 bash -c 'mv "$0" "$(echo $0 | tr [:upper:] [:lower:])"'
This replaces all upper-case characters in filenames with lower-case. You can also use this in the techs dir.

Please use all-lowercase filenames next time (or at least provide the fix(es) with the download).

And now I will take a look at the mod :)

I don't want to sound jealous or anything, but why is this topic stickied yet all the other developing factions are not.  I would recommend either stickying all other faction topics or unstickying this one...

It's not developing, it is already a released faction. By the time it was released, it was one of the best factions (if not the best), that's why it deserved a sticky. It is a bit old, so I will remove the sticky from it for now. If anyone has a problem, PM me  :O

It should be added to the mods list in the overview.

Hey, I know this thread is 3 months old, but:
This mod is grossly unbalanced. The moment Actarus researches Artificial Shields, which gives Automatons +10 armor, they're EXTREMELY hard to kill. Sirius would not stand a chance if the enemy has even a mediocre army of Automatons.

Heh that's what I said.
The Automacer has 2 armor, but can be upgraded to 2+10 armor. Which makes it the best ranged unit in the game. Get enough, and the enemy's powerful melee unit (the one that takes 3 souls, the 8 souls one just sucks) won't even be able to reach you.

I already asked nihilirian if it is ok to include his mod in the next megapack to keep this mod alive and he said it's OK.
Is anyone currently working on a more balanced/polished version of nihirlian? ( or he is willing to do that ?)

Nihilirian? He's been gone quite a while. Split right after releasing the mod.

LIST OF POTENTIAL CHANGES:
~Increase souls made from the building (names are impossible to remember)
~Decrease souls needed for other units
~Allow souls to be produced from the same building (invisible unit with 0 size)
~Fix artificial shields
~Increase defense of melee units, they die before even getting one attack
~Other bugs?

~Possible (but goes against the feel of the game): Change the names to something people can remember! ???

I think that the names correlate to names in the actual game ($$$).

Why is it called Nihilirian? Nihil is Latin for nothing (I know since I take a Latin class), and thus Nihilirian, I'm assuming this is based off of Nihilarian, means pertaining to Nihilism, which is the belief of nothing or the disbelieving morality.

Hello everyone,

I am sorry I disappeared so suddenly. I have a start up company and it is really hard and kept me busy for a long time and still is :)

I agree with the mistake with the Automacer. You can just lower it in the megapack. I think the rest is ok.

I appreciate everyone's support and I am happy that everyone liked it so much.

Also, apologies for the website being down, it should be ok now. There is an upgrade of it, collecting dust somewhere here... can't find time to finish it dough.

I usually prefer not to upgrade bits by bits, but to "drop a bomb" with something real nice. So be prepared for Nihilirain 2 + real humans returning..if anyone red the story you will know what I ment.

p.s. don't wait for this to come up any time soon :)

All best
Hristo
e-mail: ilchev2000-^-gmail.com

p.p.s. Nihilirain - yes, it is like nihilism - it is not believing in anything.
