Effective BO's
« on: 8 June 2008, 02:54:09 »
I'm relatively new to Glest and thus have only played vs comp games but I am a heavy player of a classic RTS, Starcraft:Broodwar. One of the key components of Starcraft strategy is BO (build order) creation, selection, and modification. That is why I tend to use BO's in every game I play. It helps me standardize situations and better my reactions. However seeing as I'm relatively new to this game I was wondering if you could help me out a bit. I play tech and my normal BO is my first 3 peons to mine gold, 4 baracks, 5 stone, 6 wood, 7 farm thingy, 8 stone, 9 wood. After my racks and farms are finished I use them to mine and put my next peon to build a BS. Slap on another racks when resources permit and then expand when I have enough excess

please tell me if this is a good way to go about playing. I havent really figured out the nuances of the match ups yet so if you could tell me if this is effective a certain matchup but not so effective in another it would be great.

THE AI in this game goes for a quick attack always so build a quick strong defence or go for a quick attack yourself

I get all my workers getting resources, and make a farm, blacksmith, and barracks. I make a lot of archers and horsemen. I find that works. Then, after a good defense has been established, I make airships for the offense!
