Adding Starship Trooper Factions to "Normal" Glest
« on: 18 June 2008, 16:40:37 »
Hello all.
I'm sure something similar to this has probably been covered somewhere before. I thought I would try to put in the Bugs and Humans factions from the Starship Trooper mod into the "normal" game (In this case normal refers to the Megapack version with the Norsemen and Indians).

I got past the first hurtle in renaming things, but got stuck when it flashed this message about the Bugs faction: "Armor Type Not Found: Rock." I did a little looking around, but didn't see anything I could use to fix this. Can anyone help the noob?

in the bug faction replace the aromor with stone. I've already have done this months ago and have been playing with both bugs and humans ever since. the easiest way to change anything in any version of glest is first go to the magitech xml file and see what armor and wepons it uses then go to your fations units and change them to match the ones in the glest magitech's xml file

Thanks. I just stomped some Bugs and chopped up some Humans. It took a couple of tries, with errors about not finding attack types like "claw" and "plasma", but I got there.

Different sort of play though. Guns and plasma caves make things a bit more interesting. My computer actually had some trouble keeping up with everything when I attacked the Bugs and my men got hit with all the plasma caves. Then I found out that since all the Human units can shoot flying units, scouting out the enemy camp with a 'Copter can turn into a real short flight.  :O

if you want a tougher game try uping the hit points of all the units also promoting up after so many kills is good also. my plasma cave promotes after every 10 kills up to 100 kills. it starts off at 10000 hit points and if it last until 100 kills will have 60000 hit points also it regenerates 10 every second both on hit points and ep points. but it should be done equal to all factions i also increase my offencive troops hit points and attack speed and damage delt points. you can make the game as hard or easy as you want it is all in the xml files and the points given to each type of attack. it takes time but you can tweak this game to be one heck of a battle. so try it and see but remember keep all factions stringth about the same

Go to your faction, and add armor-value="rock" to the xml
