Invisibility?
« on: 20 June 2008, 18:12:15 »
I've got a question.  If I wanted to make like, a ghost or other nonphysical character, is there some way to make him "invisible"?  This pertains to graphics, of course, in that he would need to be partially transparent.  But also, supposing I only want guards and summoners to be able to "see" him, is that possible?

Sounds unlikely to me, at least without changes to the source code.

you can make the unit transparent with gimp and the alphachannel. Then you cannot use teamcolor on this model. But changing the behaviour is only possible by "recoding" glest...

in code, when the alpha chanell is converted to teamcolor, new alpha channel could be created with constant transparency..
just an idea  :?:

If you use Blender, have a look at this: ( Teamcolor )
https://docs.megaglest.org/Glest_Blender_Hints

You can have a model made of multiple meshes.
One mesh can use teamcolor ( and can not be transparent )
another uses transpareny ( but no teamcolor of course ).
With these meshes you can build a partly transparent glest unit with teamcolor. I think the dragon from orginal glest is made with this. He has some transparent messhes and teamcolor too.
