Models... Where to get them?!?
« on: 1 July 2008, 04:05:48 »
I got terrible dial-up internet. If anyone has some models (not xmls or anything, since I'm an expert at putting together xmls, but SUCK at 3D models) I  would apreciat ANYONE who tells me some free websites that work or (better yet) upload some of there own models (I really need norsemen and indians) and email that to me. I am making a super clan, so you will be credited.  :O

And you think they will suddenly find anything useful, just because you are spamming the forums?

no, but people often read newest things first, and I'm sick of there being no where to get models...

And why are you posting here when you're not answering the question (And therefor not providing any help, rendering this topic useless)

I don't think it's even been a week. Things take time. I reckon the best thing to do would be to practise making models yourself, then you won't need to ask other people. Or give a detailed plan of your idea and make the required XMLs with stand in models and if people are interested they will contact you.

I also think its granted that if you use someones' work you will credit them, so you don't need to mention it everywhere.

It's really not THAT hard to make low poly models.  The real work is actually getting non copywritten material and textures FOR your models.

It's also a lot more fun making ur own models, cuz you can do whatever u want.

Ever see Monty Python and the holy grail?  I made the Taunting French Faction. XD (Course.... I won't release it cuz of copywrite issues XD)

truth is, I did make a few models now. BUT, I still cant get the converter to work. Could someone upload a working version of there converter (because I still arent very good at compiling or whatever I have to do to get it to work) If they can, I'd appreciate that.

I'm afraid I voted against easier model making.

If you ever tried putting models into more advanced commercial engines you would realise that the Glest workflow is really simple and easy from Blender to Glest.

Theres no linking/editing/scripting of files for Glest. Just set it up right in blender hit export and reference the model in your xml file.

I'm not worried about the difficulty of the models, since I now have a sweet new model. I would like to convert it hough. Can you upload the converter you use (because the new version needs to be properly cmpiled and thats not my strong point) Anyway, if you want to see my new model in blend format, ask and I'll upload it.
