Glest Guide (Outlines available for all!)
« on: 4 July 2008, 22:29:25 »
This was originally a number of RTF files to show the layout of XMLs, it has now been replaced with the Glest Guide.

Go to http://glest.110mb.com

The XMLs are found on the xml page http://glest.110mb.com/xmls.php

Hopefully this will be helpful in learning glest's XMLs!

** PLEASE DO NOT REPLY IN THIS TOPIC. IT IS VERY OLD AND SHOULD NOT BE RENEWED, JUST USE THE LINKS AND ENJOY **

No problem, I'm glad you like them. If anyone spots anything I missed or any errors by the way, please contact me. Also, feel free to distribute these as long as you give me credit and they remain free.

Hope these help everyone wishing to create factions, resources,  units, tech trees, and etc;

Soon to come: projectile and projectile splash.

Hmm, now that the tutorials are out, and I've successfully made 2 (check them out in the download contributions tutorials folder) I think I'm gonna make outlines for tutorials and their lng files. These will be in a totally different format, since there is more instruction needed to make a tutorial. I might try to make a sample one for you too... (for now, check out my advanced tech and advanced magic ones)

Anyway, check back in a few days and I should have them!

On the properties-->luminescence in the unit.xml you didn't know what that was.  Well that's what a castle and a mage tower have and they make the buildings glow, but only at night.  You can also change the colors that they will glow.

What's the primative value thing in the particle proj?  It seems useless; it seems like it can only be quad or the game crashes.

You can't just change it to anything, if that's what you're doing. Look at all the units' particle_proj.xmls and see what all the settings are. It can be used to make things like the line behind the arrow on the archer.

The only options are line and quad there. Quad makes a number of those particles, such as the battlemages attack, and line makes a line, which seems to ignore the particle.bmp.

How do you know those are the only options?

(After that, I'll stop questioning you...=])

What is "rotated climb"?  It's in the properties for the Catapult in Tech.

There was a discussion on that a long time ago. Unfortunately, I forget. Maybe Titi or @Kukac@ know...

Here's the link to the new Glest Guide http://http://glest.110mb.com

I was pretty surprised that I was able to get the glest name on 110mb. Kinda imagined it would be used... Either way, the guide does have an xml section. It's not perfect, and much can still be learned by looking at magitech's xmls, but it is a lot better and no need to download anything! Comment on the site!

Yeah, I know. This is a bit postdated. I hope to make a new version of the glest guide soon.
