You have to build a farm (select a worker-->build-->farm) and with the farm you can produce pigs and cows

No, the animals produce food continually. However, each animal only produces a certain amount of food, so you may have to produce more animals in order to support your growing population.

find someone to host a server, he just makes a custom game, but when choosing the player mode for each slot, change as many to "network" as you want opponents. if he is behind a dmz or firewall, he needs to open up port 61357 for tcp/ip. then he will have to give everyone else his IP to connect. you connect by using the Join Game button and typing in the IP. on the other hand, if you know how to pass parameters through commandline or shortcuts, to start a server defined by your default (server.ini) use -server. to join use -client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
