multiplayer lag

When I play glest over the local network/router/whatever, the game is slow as hell, until I start firefox, then it goes in turbo gear for some time and then everything is normal :confused:. Is this a conspiracy? I have a pretty normal WinXP system, and the other computer is a windows vista computer, also nothing special.

I have de same problem, my clients is soo slow, what happend??
