Had a real awesome session yesterday
« on: 23 July 2008, 18:13:00 »
Aww man, I got so tired of getting my ass beat by the TECH AI, so I went and played on a real large map, and had a few of my workers head up north.  I made a small base of ops up there as well, and Got my original base all pimped out.  The first attack came and it was thwarted like nothing and they had to retreat.  Second attack they got in a bit more deeper.  3rd attack however.  I RUSHED THEIR BASE WITH A CAVALRY UNIT FROM THE NORTH AS THEY WERE ATTACKING THE 3RD TIME!  It was solid man, real solid!  I love moments like these in RTS games thats y i love em so much.

Anyone else had a crazy encounter or session with the AI or online player?

I love making 5 barracks and pumping swordsmen constantly out of them. Providing you have enough gold mines, no enemy (well, AI at least) can cope! Besides, who doesn't enjoy having hundreds of swordsmen filling up every bit of room on the map?   :)

I love big maps, heh. It gives me enough time to build my main city, and a few smaller settlements (barracks and watchtowers usually). I just enjoy stretching battles so long as I can. By just building a big army in your main city, while you play around with incoming enemies in the settlements.

And, not that long ago, I waited a bit too long, against the wrong enemy. :} Looks like she was just sending scouts to see my progress, while she way growing a huge army of herself. What a fine battle that was, she destroyed my first settlement. She had to retreat from the second. While I was rebuilding the third, she killed all my workers... :} that battle lasted over 2 hours, heh.

I went magic vs tech some days ago and spammed out with battlemages so I could hold off the enemy while making other bases around the enemy.

When I was done, I took some battle- and archmages and attacked its tower that makes those flying units and its blacksmith, I got beat but then came with a second wave of ten dragons :D

I love putting a ton of archers inside buildings. In online play, especially. It looks like the castle is shooting arrows and they always call me a hacker. "OMFG HACKER HAS SHOOTING BARRACKS! MACHINE GUNNING CASTLE!" etc.

Heh, big maps are sweet. I used a 256x256 map with a little grotto for each player. Once your main base is established, go to the grotto and build a castle. The secret? Each grotto has unlimitted (or nearly) resources. I made a huge army and have yet to lose there. (Ya, its a  custom map)

Once I eliminate all players, I usually stick around and use ALL the resources (yes, even the trees!) and see how big and tough an army I can make. I then entertain myself by making mass fortresses/formations etc.

You know how the screen at the end of each game tells you your score? Why stick with a wussy one? After the game ends, choose not to exit, and mine all the resources and create tons of units. I once broke the 1,000,000  point mark before. (Took a loooooooooong time on a custom 256x256 map with virtually unlimited resources)
