Hya, we had serious problems with the board and we had to use a backup that is like a month old.

Sorry for that.

Any chance you'll get the old one up, or did I just lose about 200 posts and all my topics and discussions?

I'm really not sure if I'm going to get my topics back, or if I should try to make new ones.  Someone please help!  What about some of those people?  Are they "dead"?

When I saw that my account and all my topics got deleted, I thought I made one of the mods angry or something.

Nope.  As you can see, I've lost about 200 posts and all my topics.

Backups are cool :( ?
What about the current state, is it stable or not?
For example the smilies still look very strange ....
Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

I keep copies of my major posts so I will repost them. That includes a record of development people have done.

Wow, I would hate to be you, Omega.  You had some pretty long posts...

But we really don't even know if we lost them or not.  But if we really had not lost those posts he would have told us so, so I don't know about my posts or not...

Ugh... I (like you) lost 200 posts. Thats a two followed by a zero and another zero! I'm hoping to find out how the board crashed, then (perhaps) I can look into the  problem and (hopefully) restore everything... Any idea what happened? (I really extend my sympathies to those like Johndh who 'died'. For now, I guess it wouldn't hurt to start rebuilding what we can of topics. Hmph, I spent 20 minutes getting my military tech tree thread up, and it's nowhere near as complete. And all the other threads made by people... GONE!

Quite a problem. But luckily, the files were not on the Glest's server, and it's owner still probably got it, so only some (1000-2000) posts are missing. Also, don't forget your memory isn't missing  ;)

John D H was dead, but he remade himself.  But I was really lucky.  The forums were rewound to when I was less than 3 days old.  I only had 7 posts.

I just want Martino to come on here and say that it's all just temporary and that he has everything on his computer and just has to fix something and he'll load it back on the forums.

Shouldn't be something like monthly, or weekly database saving, to not let this happen again?

It wasn't just the board, either.  Glest.org itself was down as well.  I thought we were going to have to revert another month. :P

I not only thought that, I crossed my fingers, but also crouched in fear that the board might have crashed again... Now it looks like it was for nothing...

By the way, what's wrong with the rank images (like archmage, worker, etc;) and the smilies?

SMILIE TEST:
 :)    8)  :x        :!:    :|  ;D
Hmm, looks like very happy, smile, sad, surprise, confused, and wink don't work... Please refrain from using those for now!
