Modelling
« on: 16 October 2008, 16:17:01 »
Hi,
i started making some new units for glest ,and i can do the xml files well now, but the things i model in blender don't look very good. So my first question is: can i design models with any 3d editors? If you can't ,what requirements are there?(for example i can work with the valve hammer editor, a 3d modeller for making maps for cs,pretty well). And if you just can do it with blender, does anybody know a good tutorial?
Thanks for your answers,
freshd

Exporting the models into g3d (Glest own 3d-Format) is pretty difficult.
I use the misfit-3d model editor.

Ok thx,
i took a look at the misfit3d modeller and it looks easier than blender. But how do you convert those files to g3d ?

Blender supports lots of formats and there are lots of extra import plugins available. Probabaly you find a way to import the files of your preferred 3d-modeller.
By this you can convert to glest.xml using blender.

Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

You can import misfit models into blender. With blender you can export into glest-xml (you need the script that can be found at titis site: www.tituesgames.de) and with glexemel you can convert this files into Glest 3d .g3d (glexemel can be found at the official download folder on glest.org).
As I said, it is very difficult and I absolutely don't like it.
