Sorry to hear about the development halt
« on: 22 September 2004, 23:04:37 »
Its a shame you guys are pretty much stopping the project. It was really fun having all of the updates. Well, since this has pretty much stopped development (except bug fixes) I think I will have to move on to 0 A.D. when that gets released.

StrikerShot21: Why you want to move? Do you talk about  playing or "developing a modification"?
You know that doing graphics for a 2D game is much more difficult? ;)

We would support you if you countinue with your mod developement for Glest, however if you want to move I understand you, but I think I would be better that you move to warcraft 3 or something similar since I think that at the current speed of developement 0AD is going to take several centuries to finish ;).

I wouldn't say that. If you look at the development, it looks pretty complete. The main reason I am moving is because you guys have stopped. I remember checking on this game every day but now I have nothing to look forward to. I may stop by every once in a while just to check the forums but overall I'm am really dissapointed.

I read about a dev halt? Why you stop now? It's a good base for built a great project. I started to follow glest only in the last months but i think it will be one of the most popular game in the web.
If you need help i think someone can give you some.
1) A simple campaign mode can be built connecting maps with an xml file and preselecting the factions.
For resources and start forces u can moving that files into the campaing directory.
I think it's easy to do in that way.
2) The map editor can be modified or implemented with the possibility to assign monsters or npc in a map (like objects) you can try with one warrior so no 3d and 2d graphic is required

We trust in you

I think everyone, who wants to see the game continuing should help coding or ask some people who would help, if martino allows many people to develop. I would help but only with simple scripts(not enough experience for real game dev) and art.

I'd be glad to help develop if it becomes open source

Only the developers stopped development, but members can upgrade the game or develop mods :P It could be useful to create a campaign.
