I was thinking of factions that would fit in Magitech, and I thought of the Undeads.  Undeads is probably the closest you can get to an even mix of both Magic and Tech.  Undeads will probably be heavy on the melee side though.  One of the reasons I chose Undeads is that it would have absolutely great modeling oportunities.  On that note, I will be glad to accept any new models you wish to contribute to the faction.
Above is a picture of a tech tree diagram I propose for this faction.

I'm putting this faction on priority after Dark Magic and Tech 2, but it would be nice to have a defined set of ideas for when I do start.

The purpose of this topic is to compile different ideas for this faction.  I'm hoping to get lots of ideas, so start posting !

Just my opinion here, but I think the whole undead faction idea is getting really played out.  Just about any fantasy RTS I can think of has an undead faction.

No I think it would be nice to gather all kinds of faction and balance them.
A tech with a lot of different faction would be so much fun, together with the ability to play with more than four.

OK then do you have any ideas that would kind of stray away from the mainstream undeads ideas?

Mutants or infected if you want to go the 28 days later route.

Do you have a suggestion on unit name & position in the tech tree?

PS how is the tech tree?  Too long or short?  Does this fit in Magitech in your opinion and if no, why not?

All I can think of off the top of my head is to put a cultural spin on it.  You could make them seem more Egyptian or Southeast Asian, for instance.  Also, you could make it so that not the entire faction was undead, but included some living units.  One example I can think of is the Death faction in Lords of Magic.  Although they do command a lot of undead, probably about half their units are living Dark Elves, as opposed to The Scourge in WC3 (or countless others), which is exclusively made up of undead.

Southeast Asia: Crocodile, Giant Cobra, Tiger, Elephant (or stick with Mammoth), Necromancer/Reanimator/Priest of Death/etc
Egypt: Crocodile, Giant Cobra, Mummy, Scarab, Chariot, Necromancer/blahblahblah (with a big jackal headdress of course)

It looks about the right size.  Just try not to let your units' roles overlap.

I think it could.

Thanks for the feedback.  I do like the idea of the crocodile.  It would be nice to have another upgrade to get them though (them as in the croc and the mammoth).

It's really nice to get feedback on this faction.  Keep it coming!

Necromunger, its from the movie the chronicals of riddick.
youtube it. or ask me at school and ill explain it more.

it wouldn't do what the necromancer does but it could be the shadow walker form of it. like the necromancer can morph to the necromunger and fight, then morph back to the necromancer. just an idea

I really like the idea of an Egyptian faction with half normal, half magical/undead units.
If no-one else makes it I'll add it to my long list of half finished Glest projects  ::)

Yes but I was kind of gearing it towards Magitech, and pretty much the only things that fit are things from the midieval time period, and that also includes LOTR factions (dwarves, elves ect.).

I suppose I could include one or two Egyption undead units, but only if I get a good suggestion.

What about something like Halo 3's flood? Or Resident Evil's undead, as well as the snakes, spiders, and undead dogs? They always creep me out!

The dog would be nice.  I could probably just reskin the cow or Indian's Bull.

I like a lot undeads idea, personally i would like the necromancer as the main unit as the castle (don't know if it's possible) and maybe archer undeads would be nice.

I kind of want to stay away from the undead archer, undead swordman, undead horseman etc.  Other games do that, but Glest is better than that.

I think the creature you refer to is an Anubyte or Anubite, controlled by the Egyptian god Anubis.
they should move at high speeds and have a fast weak attack, they should also have the ability to train or produce more Anubites. More suggestions will come after i really think about it.

Don't know you're latin too good, do you? Necromancer roughly transilates to Dead Wizard. Necropolis would be a good name for a main building. It means City of the Dead in Latin. Since the undead would have been from long ago, using latin wouldn't be too bad. Might I recommend a good google search?

Too bad I'm not a moderator, because that's off topic.

Omega, I kind of don't understand what you're talking about.  You mean I should convert everything to latin?  That might be cool, but also confusing like Nirillian's naming is. =z

Also a bit questionable grammatically, I agree with what RTSman says.  I would put it in if I got an appropriate model.  <--I misspelled

It's good to be back!  Thanks Martino and Jose!
