Getting Greek and Russian to work
« on: 11 January 2009, 11:29:59 »
Hi,

Is there some way to get Greek and Russian to work without changing the font (or if not, is there some free -as in speech- font which works with all languages and looks good in Glest)?

It's an unanswered question, Archmage. And mike797 did bother do search for an answer to his question before posting a new topic about the same question. Would creating a new topic, when one on the subject already exists, have been better, you think?

Mike797 did what, in forum or mail threading, you usually call a "bump" and IMO he did it in a more apropriate way than  most bumps are made. ;)

Besides... I get notified of answers to topics of interest to me by e-mail. I don't really come here just to look for new stuff. Were I RainCT, this could actually have been a way to get me back in the forum. ;)

As long as the base of the game remains at a non-utf level, i guess that there will always be problems.

In windows it works, you can check my update of Greek translation package.
In linux... no-way...

My previous translation package, worked on some Ubuntu 9.04 machines for some time, but it does not anymore.
In the past it could read an ISO-8859-7 font and display Greek, but nowdays it does not.
I have tested many possible fixes and configurations but still can not make it work. ???

The only real solution is to make the game utf-8 compatible. Nothing more, nothing less.  :)

Well, when did it stop to work? When the machines were upgraded to 9.10...?
Could be the specific machine or even Ubuntu release setup... not necessarilly the glest code... Did you check for that?
