Silent Assault will be reborn
« on: 10 October 2004, 03:13:50 »
Since everyone seems to be so enthusiastic about it  ::) I have decided to change the name now. It is called Final Strike

This is the T-80 for the Russian side. It has a lot more detail than the Allied tank which I will be re-doing shortly.

Here is the referance

I know it's not completely correct. I will fix it later.

Yes I know, They aren't exactly the same. Low Poly doesn't allow me to put in a lot of detail.

What's the polycount? (i do not know if it is low-poly-enough for glest)
The details are made in the texture., so that is no problem.
But I think i would be better to show the models, when they are textured.
90% of the models visual power makes texturing.
And it also takes the most time. The basic "model"" like that takes time of 5 - 50 mintes((people with good skill maybe 1-2 minutes...). So please show it textured, because texture makes geometry to a model.
The geometry I see looks good(but maybe there isn't much to make wrong with a tank so lowpoly ;) ).

I can't wait for more details!

Greetings,

The Poly counts are both around 600. My computer doesn't have a problem with it. I lack drawing skills for textures so I make up for by putting in a little more detail in my models. And the models only took me maybe 10 minutes. The reason why both models are spaced out for 2 hours just means I was doing other things.

This is probably my worst model right now. I hope to improve it later.

Harvester, about 500 polygons.

Ok here is the Allied APC, it will be the second weakest vehicle on the Allied team. The only thing weaker is the Humvee.

APC - 450 polygons

Hey everyone, sorry for not being around for a while. Screenshots probably won't be ready until I get good textures for my models. If anyone wants to help, tell me.

I do not think you will find someone.
You should learn to texture. I know it is 10 times mote complex, then modelling, but this is alos the reason nobody will do the texture for that models. I think most people who are able to do so would do it alone, because they think, they do most work but do not get most acknowlegement.
That is why most people, who do not know much about modeling/texturing think modelinig is the most important part, what is absolutley wrong.

Texturing I can do (somewhat) but I can't draw any textures and I can't find any real ones. I need an artist not a UV Unwrapper

That is the point I talk about. You should learn texturing(drawing). because this is the only difficult think in doing a model.

I regret to say that my dumbass brother stole my USB stick which contained all of my 3D models. No further development will be made until I get it back.

About texturing: I made the textures for almost all of my models.
They are simple but do the trick for a low-poly game like glest.

I even made a texmap for strikershot for his Aracnyd Warrior,
but somehow we got in a quarrel on MSN so we havent talked for
3 month??? since then.

It would be a good thing if we could talk this over again, so
we could be "modellin mates"

PS: I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 CE.

I wish I could but if you read my last post you will see that I won't be able to work with the model until I get my USB memory stick back.
