Chrome is the best there is, i've been using it since it released and its quite fast.
The newest version is quite stable hasn't crashed since, its also faster then firefox.
i've got firefox, IE and chrome.
it got 100/100 in the acid3 test.

I've tried Opera and I liked it, and I had pretty good results with Chrome as well, but I can't live without Adblock Plus either.

I actually have most browsers. I've never seen chrome crash, and it is quite fast, but just too light-weight for me. I need most browsers for web design, though thanks to a firefox add-on, I can see how things will render in IE without using the actual IE! Yeah, no more touching that icky button (lol).

Gotta agree with you john, adblock is the best add-on there is (the second best is the Web Developer add-on, which gives a full array of debug tools for web design).

Firefox 3.5 prerelease is out. It's meant to be 2x faster than the previous one.
I have the 3.5 beta 4 (at least I think that's what it is, the about screen seems to be behind). It doesn't seem that much faster though. However, it got some negs to it to. For reasons I do not know, some themes and add-ons don't work... But who needs a theme when you got Personas? PS: The one called Mozilla Firefox (with the eye, and the fire) is by far the best, though I don't like the status bar image, because it gets in the way of the text, and it becomes harder to read).

PS: My acid 3 test for Firefox 3.0.10 got 71
Hmm, mine got 72, which is odd because I remember that wikipedia had a picture o it in the high 90s...

Using Audacity, is there a way to take an mp3 song and strip the vocals out, leaving only the instrumentals?

Possibly, but it would only work to a certain extent.  You would have to get the voice isolated first and then remove that from the rest of the track.  If there is a separate track for the vocals, this is easiest!  Just delete the vocals!

I'm no expert, but I think technically this would be the only circumstance where you could do it 'cleanly'
You might be able to do it 'to some extant' if it were all mixed, but I doubt it would sound very good afterwards.

Bah, I tried that before, and had next to no success. I also tried a karaoke video before on a song, and the background music sounded nothing like the original, fading so much when the lyrics came, and you could still hear the singer if you listened carefully...

Modman's tip will work, but the problem is that most songs won't have different tracks, and MP3 won't...

Oh well...

How insulting; why would you think CoumbBon is a bot?  This is the OFF TOPIC topic, so things can get pretty random sometimes!

I agree, this guy makes no sense. If he isn't a bot, he is some sort of confused person in the wrong place. We have gained nothing from most of his posts, so thus we should flag him.

this guy is an Israeli

I looked up: ישראל
from his profile
and it means Israel(or something resembling it)

from the only message i can find, that apparently wasn't deleted suggests that he speaks understandable but poor English(no offense).

Don't worry, I flagged him long ago.  And just because ישראל is his supposed location, it doesn't prove the user is not a bot.

i briefly read the post in this topic......but it made no sense so i skipped over it
but from what parts of it i did read, it suggested he's either very VERY confused or he's a bot

Holy, I can't imagine that! I've always looked up to these people I see that have been around for like 5 years and have over 8000 posts (none on the glest board yet!), but that's really something!

I'd never heard of this 'face the jury' board before, but a quick google search revealed it to be an online dating site. Seriously...

LoL! A dating site.

I could never get so much posts, I would get bored from whatever the forum is about before getting 1000.

Ps: Why isn't the off-topic sticky ? It is the most popular topic on the General discussion thing!

Those forums are much bigger than Glest forums, so there is more topics to post on and thus a chance to get about 35 posts per day.  For example, vBulletin is the mother of all forums.

Something interisting from the spring development. One of the mods has gone commercial and is now available ( for Linux and windows )

http://wolfegames.com/media/

Anybody tested it yet? ( demo is free and big )

This also shows which eyecandy would be possible with a particle system which allows black or dark smoke .....
Let's hope we see this in glest too!

Spring '44 is still my favorite mod for Spring  ;D

Spring has way more support than Glest in both community numbers and active devs  :'( despite the fact that most of the games/mods built on it are boring as hell. Spring '44 is the one notable exception IMO.
