Hey, I'm a Spring'er and in general I have to agree (well, with S44 being pretty good in any case :D). I've been wondering for a while whether cooperation between the two projects on the engine side for mutual benefit would be possible.
- Not being much of a coder, my line of though was if some bits of the engines where modular enough, these might be shared... any ideas on that ?

I happy, my Dad made me a sudo(super user do) user, and for those of you who do not know, that means i'm practically a super admin,I can do anything.
I've been fixing stuff up and playing around with all the KDE4.2.2 settings.
I think I can get Blender going on our new Kubuntu 9.04.

I'll be glad to commit more work to the GLADE team.  :D

Possibly, but i think you've dealt with earlier versions, cause 4.2.2 works just fine.

Man, I am I ever glad to be the sole owner of my computer. I mean, it IS vista, but I've hacked everything from the system32 files, to the registry, to even the start-up/log-on screens. Modified start-up programs, took off tiny things like the arrows on shortcuts, and more. Have experimented with animated desktops, and more.

A nice thing about being the sole owner is that you can change everything to YOUR preferences and no one else could care! I don't use linux just because so many programs still rely on windows stuff, and the games for PC that you can buy probably wouldn't work... Despite its flaws, I really don't mind Vista (not sure if I will ever upgrade to 7 when it comes out. I've seen the prices, and I've seen the feature list, and I'm pretty fine with my current OS).

Being admin is great, but it makes little difference to me, being the sole user. I have since disabled UAC (seriously, It hasn't done anything good for me. COMODO will handle everything [lots of work to tell it how to do things]).

If you think Windows has good graphic effects on the Desktop and stuff, your quite mistaken, they are poor effects and they slow the computer down too much.
Kubuntu, on the other hand has awesome effects, that are selectable and easily customizable.

You have to admit Linux is a much better operationg system in terms of graphics.

But that doesn't matter much.

Linux has a program installer and virtually all the games are free, and there are awesome games like alien arena.

And don't think I have no experience with both Windows and Linux, I have a vista, and 2 Kubuntu 9.04's.

Besides, Linux is FREE!!!

Right now, I am hating everyone who has recommended linux (nothing personal).

My computer is basically a piece of s*** now, as it has lost everything. The glest guide, military, a book I've been writing, thousands of dollars in files, windows vista, kubuntu, all gone just because of openSUSE.

https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4450.0

I don't know what to do... I'm confused and VERY angry. It appears I've been mugged for thousands of dollars and even more hours of time. Also, my games don't work anymore, namely commercial 'games for windows' games.

That's a little place called Seven Falls, just outside of Colorado Springs.  The terrain looks so cool and totally different from what I'm used to in Florida.  Boulders, gravel, big pine trees, rock formations... all sorts of good stuff.  I should have gotten some close-up texture photos, come to think of it.

I wouldn't know, I'm Canadian!

In some other topic...

Have you guys ever wondered what your dream computer would cost? I decided to check out the price for my dream laptop. With a 500 GB HDD, 250GB secondary HDD, 17" display (1920x1200), this uber sweet graphics card with 1 GB of graphics memory, a top-notch quad-core processor, 4 GB DDR2 RAM with 8 GB L2 Cache, a super multi DVD burner with blu-ray readability, and a number of other top-notch features cost just over $5000! Yow. Still, such a PC would be a dream, since you would probably not even know what lag is with that lean baby! What about you guys? Know the cost of your dream computer (laptop or desktop).

*NOTE: Mine of course is a custom laptop, so don't expect to see it in any stores!

The next computer I buy has gotta be something cheap and durable, because mine always end up getting beaten up and then things just stop working.  For example, I had an Acer that had its webcam and CD drive stop working and then its processor got so slow that it couldn't really do anything at all, plus all the sound came out garbled and stuttering, and I'm pretty sure it was from riding around in my trunk so much.  The next computer I had was this one, which is a Toshiba that works great (I've taken a lot better care of it) except for the keyboard.  The 'r', 'y', '=', and most of the numbers are all broken, so I'm currently using the on-screen keyboard to fill in the gaps. lol

Speaking of laptops, does anybody know anything about getting good wifi antennae?  I don't have internet at home and I'm JUST BARELY out of range of my neighbor's unsecured wifi network.  I would build my own, but I don't have all the necessary tools, like a soldering iron.

gAMeboy, I agree, though I don't like my monitors TOO big, because many programs only support up to such a resolution, so when you display that resolution, everything appears enlarged. Of course, you are obviously talking about a desktop.

John.d.h, you're being so realistic. What would be your super dream PC if you won the lottery?

BTW, for antenna's, try a USB antenna with maybe wireless N. Most built in ones are only a G, which is poor range. N or N+ will probably do nicely. Never used one, but I'm sure of how they work (I think)...

??? Really, because i did a persuasive essay on germany, and i was planning to use that one month vacation as a selling point, but i saw that italy, france, germany, sweden, finland and england all have a one month vacation according to wikipedia, my textbook and several blogs.  But even with all that i would still not consider myself formidably knowledgeable in european vacation science... :-\ :D

@Omega-   My dream computer, would be a computer with 6GB ram and a 1000 GB hard drive, with a quad core.  And of course a HD monitor, but if that then also a very good graphics card to support it...  Not too sure what i would do with 1000 GBs of Hard Drive though ;D ;D ;D  But it would probably only cost about $1500 actually.

Well, since you state a 1TB HDD (1 Terebyte = 1024 GigaBytes), I assume this is a desktop. The costs depend on company, and other features. However, I would say over $2000 would be a safer bet. The best quadcore processor you'll find is without doubt the Intel i7 Core.

Yes, it is a desktop.  And I don't know why you say $2000+.  HP computers are pretty inexpensive. I saw a computer in an add yesterday that was all that, just 500 GB HDD, and it was only $849.

The worst computer deal i ever saw was on that show where you have to guess the price of a certain vacation or appliance.  (I can't remember the name).  There was this huge dell with really crappy specs and i was thinking $500-700, but it actually was like $4000!  i couldn't believe it, but i then thought  'Oh, this must be a rerun from like 2001 or something'.

Whats your guys worst computer deal story?

I think HPs are pretty decent.  Just don't get a Dell.  Everyone I've known who's ever had a Dell thought it was a horrible piece of junk.  That might just be laptops, though...

"The Price Is Right"?

Whats your guys worst computer deal story?
The aforementioned Acer laptop has gotta be my worst.  The specs were awesome for the price (about the same as the $2000 laptops, for half the cost) but it was the most unreliable thing I've ever owned.  According to the guy at Circuit City when I went in to get it fixed, certain parts like the webcam tend to just stop working for no apparent reason and with no apparent way to fix it. -.-

I'm glad I bought the additional 2-year accidental damage warranty, because after it stopped working properly, I accidentally dropped it down the stairs a couple times so they'd replace it.
