Been a while since we've posted here. The other day I finally got the chance to build my planned gaming rig, and oh, did it go well!
- ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard
- Intel Core i7-2700K CPU
- MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC graphics card
- G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB RAM
- Kingwin ABT-750MM 750W PSU
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU cooler
- Asus DRW-24B1ST 24x DVD burner
- HANNspree HF225DPB 21.5" LCD monitor
- Alden Design AK3 case
- Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit OEM (was there ever really a choice?)
Achieved POST on the first try without issues, works godly. The Witcher 2, Skyrim, and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood all play nicely at 1920x1080 with maxed out settings.
On another topic, I found a fantastic program today. Windows users probably know how Windows Explorer can display the thumbnails for images in common formats, such as JPG or PNG, but not less common formats such as TGA.
SageThumbs, an open source shell extension which utilizes parts of the powerful XnView program, allows Windows Explorer to display thumbnails for an additional 162 image formats (plus another 26 if XnView is installed). Pretty nice to be able to see what XCF, PSD, TGA, AI, and SVG files look like right in explorer.
