I'm BACK! Anyone notice I was away?

I was at this SLC (Student Leadership Conference) in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Must have been about 1300 people from SRC's (student representive council) from all over the province. Was really great. Best part? Girls out-numbered the guys 3:1! So the dance was awesome, kinda sucks that there was no slow songs...  :o Dunno why, but regardless, it was great!  ;)

I also had a volleyball tournament yesterday and today, but we lost EVERY game! However, that's cause our senior team is VERY small. There's no grade 12's, and only 9 players (7 showed up on this tourney). Oh well, it was fun. I was so used to being power, since I was it for the last two years, but this year I got pushed back to center... Ugh, no where near as good...

BTW, good joke! (Glad you now understand the BTW! ;) )

You played with the XML, because I know that I did not set it like that.
Of course I played with the XML!
what else do you think 'In my machine I did some XML editing and gave the temple of myths the skill and command to produce him.'?
what I want you to do is make some building that produces the archmage so I don't have to edit XMLs (crap is it a federal offense? the way you said 'You played with the XML, because I know that I did not set it like that' sounded like that you were angry if I'm not wrong ;D)
but I swear to God I didn't edit the XML of the archmage you kept his EP regen of 3000 -
either by mistake or purposefully but I didn't touch that.
If it was a mistake then tell me how it should have been  :-\

BTW, good joke! (Glad you now understand the BTW!  ;) )
thanks Omega !! : :) Im glad that I understand btw too lol ;)

edit: I can't do ANY MODELING or anything to help in anything in glest though I have a good imagination so after dark magic gets over, I have a suggestion for a new mod... but it'll completely rest on you guys coz I'm 14 years old and totally useless  :( sorry

Well, it's 100% ok to modify the mods. In fact, that's a great idea! However, you SHOULD make a copy of the mod for the changes, and don't ever complain about something not working right unless it is a completely unmodified mod.

I should mention I am only 15, and could do modeling at the age of 14, as well as web design and basic programming, so don't ever say 'Oh I'm too young for that'. Trust me, every thing is possible if you set your mind to it. I would recommend glest.110mb.com for learning modeling/xmls/texturing/blender/etc.

If the archmage's EP is unaturally high... then just change it in the XML!

@ElimiNator: No I'm not, since I prefer to work on my own, but I did make some models for DM before, and if I had the spare time, I could help (but I don't, so oh well  ;) ). Why do you ask? Did something happen while I was away?

I have been modeling since about a month ago, and have not yet learned texturing.  I spent a year trying to learn how to model with that old tutorial you released that only contained how to unwrap a UV.  THEN, I got titi's tutorial, and that almost got me there, and while I was still monkeying with my blender I got yours, and that really got me started.  You could say that omega's was more helpful I guess because before I got his I hadn't yet made a textured model.

Edit:  I am now adding Omega's new quote.  He won the quote competition.  The community will have 2 weeks to figure it out before I ask him for a new one.

The new quote is: "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."

I've been modeling since i was 13, i started texturing when i was 14. I've started writing a book a few months ago. I learnt XML at the age of 11, made a few crappy web pages. Nothing gr8. Just know this your never to young for anything.

I learned XML at age 11.
Learned to model and animate at my current age, 12.

By 14, man, I'm not sure what I'll be doing then...................

You got me wrong guys
I said 'I'm 14 and totally useless  :( which means I'm sad that I am so
well I'll try out the glest.110mb.com ... what about tutorials you guys can give me some of those and i'll try to do some modeling..
Thanks for inspirations though
archmage101 I am amazed at your age and capabilities  :o though I'm not offending others  :)
btw my idea(s) for new mods were -
(1) Robots (like you know like the move 'The terminator')
(2) a Far-East Faction (The martial arts guys which I almost totally figured out in my head except the air unit lol)

edit: change the 'move' to 'movie'

Age isn't a problem. What is needed is a desire and willingness to learn, and time to practice. Some people are better at things than other people, but practice is what sets the winners apart. It's been said it takes 10,000 hours to learn the effective use of a skill. If your starting at a young age, you've got a great head start!

I'm 27 but I've been doing modding since Doom and before. My dream is to someday own a game studio. To that end I expose myself to as much game design - and business/people management - as possible. Gamasutra.com always has great articles, check them out if you haven't yet.

On another note - I've found a nice list of screencast software on wikipedia. I'm going to try a few out and start recording some video tutorials. I'll try to do UV unwrap/skinning first in blender, and a few texture techniques in Gimp.

I believe that the "lie" quote is Mark Twain. I did not look it up but I've heard it before.

First off, no, the quote is not Mark Twain, though it does seem a lot like something he would say.

Well, seeing how everyone is posting their famed accomplishments, here I go:
XML: Summer 2008 (11 years)
Modeling (Basics): A month ago to about now (12)
Texturing: A month ago (12)
Animating:  I have no time to learn!!!

Let's change topic here...
I read this article somewhere but can't seem to find it so I can't give link but here's what I remember
'The funniest and most ridiculous language in the world- ENGLISH' - title
let's start with a box, the plural is boxes...
but the plural of ox is oxen not oxes!
You can find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice...
but you can find a house; not a block of hice!
I can have a broken tooth or a set of teeth...
and if you see a telephone booth, would many of them be called 'beeth'?
One fowl is a goose, many are geese...
then why shouldn't the plural of moose be meese?
I talk about a foot; and I show you my feet...
and I give you my boot, would a pair be called beet?
The plural of that is those...
but hat in the plural should never be hose....
   nor should cat be cose!
and the masculine pronouns are he his and him ...
But imagine the feminine ones she shis and shim!!!

that's all I remember unfortunately :(

Ok, Mark, how much free time do you have a day?

By the way I do an internet school now, so I'm at home most of the time, I have enough time to help you out with animation.

On English: Cleave is a word that is it's own antonym. It means either to split apart, or to join together (not in common use though).

If you can say that a teacher taught, then why can't you say that a preacher praught?  Then consider that cough, rough, dough, and bough all use different pronunciations of the "ough" letter combination.

The soldier decided to dessert his desert in the desert

The dove dove into the bushes

a build burns up as it burns down,
you fill in a form by filling it out,
an alarm goes on by going off,...
there's a lot more- I just can't remember where I found that article
