Guys I need help with blender...
how to use the scale tool? suppose I wanted to make the starting cube longer, as told in glest.110mb.com, it doesn't exactly show step by step (which is what I need) - suppose I wanted to make the cube as long as a foot - how to do it?

I can't - when I try to drag the side , a line comes and as I move the mouse it comes with my mouse - like how you draw with a pencil in paint ???

You right click to grab the side, but you have to be in edit mode, and you have to have the faces thing selected.

Go to blender.org and look under the education tab for the "noob to pro" tutorial. Its a little sketchy on some of the higher end things, but basic modelling is fairly in depth.

To answer your specific question, you need to right click to select the needed vertex (or edge/face) and press G to "Grab" them and move them. You can also them press X Y Or Z to restrict movement to the matching axis.

A fast selection tool for vertecies is the box and brush selection tools. If you press B your cursor becomes a click and drag rectangle selection tool. If ypou press it a second time it becomes a round "brush" (like in gimp) and clicking will select anything inside. Use a scroll wheel to change it's size if it's too big or small.

Don't forget to use extrude also! That is handy for expanding things if they'll need further alterations later.

As to how much time I have, well, when I say I have a lot I really mean I have a lot compared with many people around me.  As the season changes to winter I will have more and more time.

I have to make my time. :-\
If I want to do something I have to sacrifice something else.
Now I have a lot of free time, as I got school out of the way, big waste of my time.

Hmm... I think I've already learned the basics of Blender, but I think I'll have to check that video out anyway, just in case there's something I'm missing.

Nice laptop! And a Toshiba too! I personally prefer Toshiba's over any other brand. It's what I use. Good deal too. Never did like 64 bit OS's though. Just not compatible enough for me...

I think I'll skip the blender video, for more reasons than one... ;)

Its getting monotone around here. You guys are being too serious! :D

I'm now delivering my new 'Health Plan Cure' for that:

The americans and the canadians decide to have a competitive boat race. Both teams practise long and hard for the race. On the peak day, they feel ready. The Canadians won by a mile.

Afterwards, the american team was discouraged by the loss. Moral saged. Corporate management decided they had to find the reason for that loss. They hire a consultant firm to investigate the problem and find a recommended corrective solution.

The consultant's finding: The canadian team had eight people rowing and one person steering. The american team had one person rowing and eight people steering. After years of study and millions of dollars spent, the firm deducted that too many people steering wasn't good. So on race day the next year, the american's team structure was completely revamped. The new structure: Four steering managers, three area steering managers, and a new performance review system for the person rowing the boat to provide work incentive.

This time, they lost by two miles. Humilated, the american corporation laid off the worker for poor performance and gave the managers a bonus for finding the problem.

Hey, we americans are not at all dumb, well........at least not me anyway..... :P.
Besides we have some of the most advanced technology in the world, we wouldn't make stupid mistakes like that.

But it is funny, I can imagine a few people being the stupid................ ::)

HEY, don't get me wrong! :o

I'm not saying your dumb or anything. It's basically portraiting your banks and major business though.

No offense, but your banks are TERRIBLE! Canada has some of the strongest banks in the world (and the smartest).

There's been some times when you've had some really corrupt CEOs too. I'm merely um... stating... that american corporations just aren't the best at handling things.

Besides it's a joke. Lighten up! :D I know plenty of genius americans.

Hey, I agree that corporate america is really not going in the right direction.  I mean, just now two senators used PAC funding to go to the Greenbrier resort in Virginia.

I really don't think that he meant all americans are stupid, arch, but some of my classmates are.  I mean, there is really a fundamental lack of interest in current events.  I really don't want to go into detail, but it is like a plague.  I consider myself, however, to be a good citizen for being compliant with rules and for showing interest in school.  I am definitely one of the smartest kids I know.  Alot of my intellectual superiors are above my age, like modman.
